2 Arrive Thessaloniki, Greece, on a rainy and gloomy day, but nothing keeps us from our walk through the downtown area and near the Aegean Sea. Rain will not keep us from visiting the coast of the Aegean Sea and our first encounter with Alexander the Great.
3 Next morning the weather is clearing and we pay a visit to Ano Poli, Upper Town and this fine fortress.
4 Nice city and harbor view. Note the grafitti on the buildings.
5 A Byzantine wall to visit St. Nikolaos Church.
6 Beautiful inside the church this will be our first of many churches through the trip.
7 A walk of the grounds.
8 Beautiful birds including this proud peacock are on the grounds.
9 Majestic views of another church below us.
10 A walk from the top of the hill in Ano Poli, through the streets admiring the grafitti.
11 Quaint homes on narrow streets.
12 Another church and with captivating icons.
13 Beautiful icons.
14 Reach town and walk through a local market.
15 Lots of goods.
16 Old man waiting. We had a great day and are heading out for dinner.
17 Next morning out for day trip by coach and get a nice view of Mt. Olympus.
18 The countryside is lovely many farms.
19 The site of Dion, the sacred city of the Macedonians taking a nice walk.
20 Nice hillside communities.
